Canberra Foundation Collaborative
About the Collaboration
The Canberra Foundations Collaborative (CFC) is a partnership in which we collaborate with two other leading foundations in our community – Hands Across Canberra and the Snow Foundation.
Each year we jointly run a major grant round in Autumn, and we share knowledge and co-fund to build capacity and support services in our community.
In 2022, we launched the inaugural CFC grant round to create a simplified and central process for community-focused organisations to apply for funding from a number of foundations to save on time and resources. For us, most grants are under $50,000 with some multi-year agreement options. We prioritise funding initiatives that improve health and wellbeing outcomes in Canberra.
This collaborative approach to philanthropic grant making provides a shared understanding of the areas of greatest need in our community. Each partner foundation considers and funds projects in their specific focal areas which complement each other.
In addition to financial support, the collaborative builds a stronger, more interconnected community sector through networking and capacity building events. These initiatives empower organisations with the tools and resources needed to maximise their impact.
This collaboration is sector leading and was recognised as a finalist in the Philanthropy Australia awards in 2024. At the heart of the collaboration is a shared willingness to listen to and put the beneficiary at the centre of our giving.
